Taxation of German Unitholders
German unitholders are subject to Canadian withholding tax.
Canadian withholding tax changes
Please be advised that effective January 1, 2005 the withholding tax requirements have changed. Prior to January 1, 2005, tax for registered non-resident unitholders was only withheld from the estimated taxable portion of the distribution.
As of January 1, 2005, new legislation introduced a 15% withholding tax on distributions of capital made to non-residents. As a result, distributions payable to registered German unitholders became subject to the following rates:
| January and February: | 21,0% |
| as of March 2005: | 19,5% |
German unitholders who hold their Dundee REIT units through a financial institution may be subject to a higher withholding tax deduction, however, they are eligible to receive a refund.
